“Almost every parent will experience some anxiety sending a child to college,“In addition to the timeless worries — ‘ Will my child succeed academically? Will my child fit in?’ — There are heightened concerns today about campus safety and rising tuition.”
‘Do’s and Don’ts’ for Today’s Parents
Do recognize this is a time of ambivalence for all parents. The excitement and joy about opportunities awaiting your child are mixed with waves of nostalgia and a sense of loss. Talk with other parents who are going through the same thing.
Don’t tell your child, “These are the best years of your
life.”
No one is happy all the time. When a student is homesick, or
overtired from studying all night, or a romantic relationship has just fallen
apart, it’s not reassuring to have parents imply that this is as good as it
gets.
Do discuss academic goals and expectations ahead of time.
Remember, many first-year students do not do as well
academically in their first semester of college as they did in high school, and
many change their minds about their proposed course of study.
Don’t try to solve your child’s problems.
Encourage your child to use the appropriate campus
resources, whether that means an adviser, professor, health services caregiver
or career center professional.
Do send care packages.
Cookies, treats, even everyday necessities such as shampoo
and toothpaste are reminders that say, “I’m thinking of you.”
Don’t expect a response to every text.
A cell phone can be a wonderful way to keep in touch, but
don’t make it, as one student described, an “electronic leash.”
Do take comfort in the knowledge that part of you is going
with your child.
The foundation you have provided over the past 18 years will
accompany your child across the miles and throughout the years.

MBBS from Abroad
Staying focused when you’re at home is sometimes easier said
than done. Distractions can challenge your focus, especially if you’re in a
setting with a lot of noise—like a television or people who aren’t also
studying.
Just reading chapters in a textbook might not be enough to
help you retain the knowledge you need to ace a test. Jotting down notes like
important facts, statistics and key takeaways will help you retain the
information you’ve just read even more.
Creating flashcards helps you remember words or concepts
from scratch. They are also a helpful practice for self-study, since they allow
you to test yourself, meaning you don’t need to rely on someone else to quiz
you.
Don’t overwhelm yourself! Separating your study materials
into more manageable parts will make it easier for you to master the entire
task. You should try to avoid focusing on one subject for an extended period of
time. It can help if you alternate between course materials.
Set aside time—whether daily or weekly—to review your notes.
The routine check-in of course topics while they are still fresh in your mind
act like a mini study session that will help you when it comes time to take a
test or turn in an assignment.
Some students learn best by creating flash cards, other
students have an easier time studying by re-writing their notes several times.
When you find the best study technique that’s right for you, make sure you
stick with it.

Struggling to be a successful student? Don't get discouraged, it isn't magic! But it does require desire, dedication and a lot of work. If you want learn how to become a successful student, then you've come to the right place. Our study skills guides for students will provide you everything you need in order to learn how to learn more effectively.
1. Have a Sound Study Space
Staying focused when you’re at home is sometimes easier said
than done. Distractions can challenge your focus, especially if you’re in a
setting with a lot of noise—like a television or people who aren’t also
studying.
Find somewhere that you’re comfortable and free from
disturbances. Some options could be the:
1- Library
2- Park
3- Your Backyard
You could even create a nook area in your bedroom that’s
specifically for studying—just make sure all possible distractions are out of
sight and out of mind. It will also be helpful to avoid lying down on a bed or
couch. You’ll focus better while sitting straight up in your seat.
2. Put the Phone Away
Random dings, buzzes and tweets from your cell phone can derail your concentration, especially since they are hard to ignore. Make sure your cell phone is off, on “do not disturb” or in another room so you can fully concentrate on your study materials.
3. Fuel Your Mind
You’ll be more alert and motivated if your stomach isn’t empty! Make sure you eat a good meal before you dive into the books or snack while you study so you can avoid tummy grumbles, headaches and a lack of focus that hunger may cause. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water so you stay hydrated and alert.
4. Stay Organized
Keeping track of your time for study sessions and lesson completions will help you stay on top of your courses. You can use apps on your computer or phone—like calendar or Wanderlust—or pick up a planner that you can customize to include your to-do lists and coursework. Making lists every day will help you come up with a plan and stick with it!
5. Take Handwritten Notes
Just reading chapters in a textbook might not be enough to
help you retain the knowledge you need to ace a test. Jotting down notes like
important facts, statistics and key takeaways will help you retain the
information you’ve just read even more.
There are tons of studies that explain the benefits of
taking handwritten notes, including one from the Association for Psychological
Science that shows handwritten note taking can improve long-term comprehension.
6. Turn Your Notes into Flashcards
Creating flashcards helps you remember words or concepts
from scratch. They are also a helpful practice for self-study, since they allow
you to test yourself, meaning you don’t need to rely on someone else to quiz
you.
Flashcards are also handy for helping you gauge your
progress. If there are some cards that you breeze through easily, you’ll be
able to set those aside and focus more on the cards you have a harder time
with.
7. Split Up Your Work
Don’t overwhelm yourself! Separating your study materials
into more manageable parts will make it easier for you to master the entire
task. You should try to avoid focusing on one subject for an extended period of
time. It can help if you alternate between course materials.
Don’t forget to take breaks every so often. Go for a walk,
grab a snack or just enjoy the fresh air for a bit. This “mental downtime” will
give your brain a much-needed break after all of that studying.
8. Review Consistently
Set aside time—whether daily or weekly—to review your notes.
The routine check-in of course topics while they are still fresh in your mind
act like a mini study session that will help you when it comes time to take a
test or turn in an assignment.
During your review, you’ll also be able to identify areas
where you may need additional help. It’s important that you’re proactive about
contacting your teacher in this instance. They’ll be able to provide additional
resources and guidance to help you master the topic.
9. Quiz Yourself
Testing yourself to see how well you know the material will help you find your weak spots so you can strengthen those areas sooner. You can do this by asking your teacher for practice tests, or creating your own! Some textbooks will also include sample tests at the back of the book.
10. Identify How You Learn Best
Some students learn best by creating flash cards, other
students have an easier time studying by re-writing their notes several times.
When you find the best study technique that’s right for you, make sure you
stick with it.
The setting and study strategies you choose are completely
up to you! Just find somewhere that helps you get in the right flow to
accomplish your study goals and you’ll be on the right track towards succeeding
in your classes.
Remember: if there are materials that you do not understand,
no matter how much you study, ask your instructor for additional help. They
want you to succeed!

Every student who aims to become a high-achiever will
experience exam stress. It’s an unavoidable part of student life that can be a
tough nut to crack. Remember, stress exists for a reason and you can choose to
let it be your downfall or use it to drive you to improve your work. To combat exam stress, firstly you need to understand the
reasons behind this heightened anxiety. Then you can establish methods to
reduce the pressures you feel. Researchers have uncovered some common
explanations for this: 1- Low motivation levels2- Lack of preparation and planning3- High expectations from others4- Competition from peers
The difference between a student who allows stress to
overwhelm them and someone who uses it to push them harder is what they do when
they are facing that brick wall mid-study. Admirable students will pause,
reflect and choose a path that will help them overcome the impasse, not just
wait for the wave to engulf them. Outlined below are some unexpected ways that you can put
those negative feelings to one side and concentrate on your learning goals. If
you’re not stuck for inspiration at this moment (maybe you’re procrastinating
by reading this?), you may be looking for this advice before your exams so take
note!
1. Listen to Classical Music
Listening to music can create a positive and productive
environment by elevating your mood and encouraging you to study more
effectively and for longer. Classical music is recommended as the best type of
music to boost your brain power but ambient music can work too. Check out the
playlists on Spottily to easily find what works for you.
2. Take a Quick Walk
Many students feel as if they should spend their entire time
before exams with their books open and their pen poised for action. However,
research has proven that exercising such as taking a walk can boost your memory
and brain power.
3. Plan your Study Routine
This may not be a big surprise but what is shocking is the
amount of students who discount the benefits of creating a personal study plan.
With some initial effort, you can become more productive and motivated each day
you approach your study by understanding your learning progress.
4. Try to Get Enough Sleep
For some people, this is something that’s always put on the long finger especially if you are trying to get the most out of college life. The benefits of a proper night’s sleep can never be underestimated. Most importantly, sleep helps your brain to assimilate new knowledge into your long-term memory so that you can recall it when it comes to test day. Anyone who has tried to concentrate with half a night’s sleep can also testify to improved focus with better sleep.
5. Give Your Mind Space
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to take a break
and see your stress from a different perspective. Practicing meditation is
another way to maintain focus while improving both mental and physical health
to reduce pre-exam stress.
6. Let it All Out
Sometimes you just need to talk to someone, other times you
need to shout it from the rooftop or scream from the top of your lungs. Figure
out what you’re feeling and then let it out. Speaking to a family member or
friend can highlight the bigger picture for you and empower you to rise above
the exam stress.
7. Break Free from Distractions
I bet you don’t even realize the number of times you check
Facebook, Instagram or whatever your vice is? When you add it all up together,
it amounts to a significant waste of time. It can be hard to detach from your
life outside of studying but keeping the end goal and time-frame in mind will
ease the process.

The gap between supply and demand in medical education is quite high and lakhs of interested students are not able to get the opportunity due to availability of limited number of medical seats.
Medical education abroad is one of the solutions for this problem. The demand for medical education abroad is slowly gaining momentum and Indian students have started applying for medical schools in Central American countries.
Students are flocking to these countries thanks to the availability of low-cost medical education. Basic eligibility for medical admission in these countries is – pass of Intermediate with PCB group.
In India, medical degree starts after 10+2 and is called MBBS. The undergraduate medical degree is referred with the same name in Nepal, China and Bangladesh. However, in other countries like central america and the US this degree is called MD (Physician). Hence, the MBBS and MD (Physician) degrees obtained in abroad are equal to MBBS in India.
Those who have completed their medical degrees abroad must earn the certification of Medical Council of India. The amendment of Medical Council of India Act, 1956 in 2002 opened doors for Indian students to study medicine in foreign countries. However, they have to obtain certification of MCI after completion of their degrees to practice in India. The basic eligibility to study medicine in abroad is pass in Intermediate with PCB group with minimum of 50% marks. And students must have studied English as a compulsory subject in their Intermediate. The minimum age limit is 17 years old. The MCI will issue no-objection certificate to students to study medicine in abroad only after fulfillment of these requirements.
After completion of medical degree in abroad, the students must clear the “Foreign Medical Graduate Test” conducted by the MCI through National Board of Examinations twice a year in March and September months. This exam consists of two papers with 300 marks. All the questions are of multiple-choice form and there are no negative marks.
Out of 300 marks, at least 150 marks shall be obtained to clear the test. A candidate can sit for this exam any number of times until he/she clears it. Only upon of successful clearance of the test, they will be eligible to practice in India.
